3. Beans
So we know that soluble fiber is able to lower cholesterol. Beans are especially rich in soluble fiber. What many people don't know is that they also take a while for the body to digest, meaning that you feel full for longer after a meal. That's one reason beans make a useful food for folks trying to lose weight. Beans also offer many choices, from navy and kidney beans to lentils, garbanzos, black-eyed peas. Plus, beans are a very versatile food, there are so many ways to prepare them.
