4. Limes and Cough Medicine
According to a study from University of Sydney, limes can inhibit or block enzymes that help break down statins. Dextromethorphan, a chemical compound that is commonly used in cough medicines, can build up in your bloodstream if you fail to lower statins level in time. This will lead to unwanted side effects, like hallucinations and insomnia.
