Back in World War II, carrots made their appearance in nutrition posters, saying that eating carrots enables people to see in the dark. As another great source of beta-carotene, half a cup of raw carrots has 51 percent of your daily value of vitamin A. And don't worry about the sugar. They're packed with fiber, so you'd have to eat a lot of carrots for that to be an issue.
