1. It all started with Ray Kroc.
Ray Kroc made McDonald's a global enterprise, but the honor of actually founding it goes to two brothers from San Bernardino, Richard James and Maurice James McDonald. Kroc saw the great potential in the small business and then bought out the McDonald brothers for $2.7 million. However, the title "exclusive owner" didn't satisfy him. He began to call himself the founder of the chain and proudly announced it was he who ran the McDonald brothers out of business.
