In his over 50 years in the entertainment business, Sorvino was an imposing presence on film and stage. Starting on Broadway, where he received a Tony nomination, he was remembered for a range of characters from an Italian American Communist in Warren Beatty's "Red", to a drugged-up heroin addict in "The Cooler".
