Which foods can be contaminated with mold?

As mold needs a moist environment to survive, fresh foods containing high levels of water are most likely to act as a medium. These foods may include:

Fruits: strawberries, oranges, apples, and grapes

Veggies: tomatoes, cauliflowers, carrots, and bell peppers

Bread: especially when it contains no preservatives

While oxygen is essential for most molds, a specific type called xerophilic mold can grow dry. Thus, it can also be found on the surface of chocolates, dried fruits, and baked goods.
