Irvington Seafood Recalls "Crabmeat: Jumbo, Lump, Finger, and Claw Meat" Because of Possible Health Risk

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Irvington Seafood of Irvington, Ala., has recalled 1 lb. packages of Crabmeat (Jumbo, Lump, Finger, and Claw meat) because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems. Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and not to eat it.

The recalled items are labeled as 1 lb. tubs marked with license number AL 111-C and the company name “Irvington Seafood,” and are identified by lot code(s): Batch #133. The products have been distributed to distributors in Alabama and Mississippi and may have reached retail seafood markets and restaurants; they have been sold since May 12, 2024. Production has been suspended while the company and the FDA investigate the source of the contamination.

Consumers who purchased the recalled 1 lb.
