Raleigh, N.C., Oct. 4, 2025 — The Kroger Co. has recalled two deli salad products — Basil Pesto Bowtie Pasta Salad and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad — because the pasta ingredient may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious or fatal infections in vulnerable populations. Consumers are advised not to eat these products and to stop using them immediately.

The recalled items include Basil Pesto Bowtie Pasta Salad (lot code(s): UPC 217573-10000 and 217573-20000) and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad (lot code(s): UPC 227573-10000). These salads have been sold since Aug. 29, 2025 (penne) and Sept. 6, 2025 (bowtie) in deli full-service and Grab‑n‑Go cases online and at select U.S. retailers within the Kroger Family of Stores, including Kroger, Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, King Soopers, Payless, Ralphs and Smith’s across AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MO, MS, MT, NE, NM, NV, OH, OR, SC, TN, TX, UT, WA and WV.

Customers who purchased these products should not consume them and may return them to any Kroger Family store for a full refund or a replacement; alternatively, dispose of the product following local waste guidance.
