Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — BrightFarms has issued a voluntary recall of its Southwest Chipotle Crunch salad kits because the Cotija cheese included in the kits may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious illness or death in vulnerable populations and miscarriage in pregnant women; consumers should stop using the salad kits immediately and do not eat the Cotija cheese. No confirmed illnesses linked to these BrightFarms kits have been reported to date.
The recall covers BrightFarms Southwest Chipotle Crunch Kit (5.85 oz) with UPC 8-50051-82500-4 and best‑by dates ranging from Dec. 31, 2023, through Feb. 22, 2024; the Cotija masterpack inside the kits bears a best‑by date through Mar. 27, 2024 and is sold in a clear plastic container (lot code(s) are printed on package bottoms). The kits have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers in Delaware, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and Washington, D.C., and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025.
Consumers should dispose of the Cotija masterpack or the entire salad kit and may request a refund or replacement by returning the product or presenting a photo of the product, receipt, or loyalty card purchase history to the place of purchase; retailers have been instructed to remove recalled product from shelves. For questions or to report concerns, contact BrightFarms at [email protected] or call 1‑866‑857‑8745, 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. EDT.
