Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Cooperstown Cheese Company of Milford, N.Y., has recalled multiple fresh cheese products because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems. Consumers should not eat the affected products and should stop using them immediately.
The recall covers cheeses sold under the labels Jersey Girl, Toma Celena and Abbie (retail and restaurant packaging) and additional varieties sold at farmers markets, including Jersey Girl, Toma Celena, SK, Jersey Gold, Marielle, Jersey Girl with garlic/rosemary, Jersey Girl spring onion, Bobby’s got the Blues, Toma Torino, Jersey Gold with garlic and Abbie; affected lot code(s) are not specified by the company. The cheeses have been sold since June 21, 2023, and were distributed in New York State through farmers markets, restaurants and retail stores, and online and at select U.S. retailers; packaging may include company labels, cellophane, cheese paper or vacuum sealing, and cut-and-wrapped portions typically remain usable for about two weeks depending on storage.
Cooperstown Cheese Company has ceased production while it and the FDA investigate; no illnesses have been reported to date. Consumers who have purchased the listed products should dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund or request a replacement.
