Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Stater Bros. Markets has recalled CHICKEN STREET TACO KIT because a cheese ingredient in the included crema cup may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause severe or fatal infections in young children, the elderly, pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems. Consumers are urged to stop using the product immediately and not to eat it.
The recalled product is CHICKEN STREET TACOS (UPC 0102864343013992), 20 oz, lot code(s): all sell-thru dates up to and including Feb. 10, 2024. The kits have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025 online and at select U.S. retailers, and were available for purchase at all Stater Bros. Markets in California. The recall follows a multi-year, multistate investigation by the FDA and CDC linking Listeria infections to certain cheeses supplied by Rizo-López Foods.
Consumers should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or request a replacement by contacting Stater Bros. Customer Service at [email protected] or by phone at 909-733-5000 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. PST). Anyone who is ill or concerned should seek medical care; the FDA also recommends thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and containers that contacted the product to prevent cross-contamination.
