Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — SLR Food Distribution of Hicksville, N.Y., has recalled Wise Wife brand Ground Cinnamon because testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found elevated levels of lead that pose health risks, particularly to children and pregnant people; consumers should stop using the product immediately and not eat it. Short‑term low‑level exposures may be symptomless while prolonged or higher exposures can cause developmental, neurological and other chronic health problems in vulnerable populations. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recalled item is Wise Wife brand Ground Cinnamon packaged in a 1.76 oz (50 g) clear plastic jar with a black lid, UPC 0 688474 302853; lot code(s): distributed between Feb. 15, 2024 and June 28, 2025. The product has been sold online and at select U.S. retailers in New Jersey, New York, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Ohio and have been sold since Feb. 15, 2024; SLR Food Distribution’s last shipment was distributed June 28, 2025 and the company is not selling the product currently.
