Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Advance Food International, Inc. of Maspeth, N.Y., has recalled Shahzada brand Cinnamon Powder (7 oz) after testing revealed elevated levels of lead that pose a health risk; consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and not eat it. Short‑term exposure to low levels of lead may be symptomless, but prolonged or higher exposure can cause serious effects, particularly in children, including developmental disorders and permanent neurological damage, and can cause kidney and cognitive effects in adults. No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recalled product is Shahzada brand Cinnamon Powder packaged in 7 oz plastic bags, identified as lot code(s): not specified on available notices (consumers should check packaging for lot information). The cinnamon was distributed to retailers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts and have been sold between Jan. 1, 2024, and May 24, 2024; the product was not sold online.
