Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Bornstein Seafoods has recalled 44,550 pounds of cooked and peeled ready-to-eat coldwater shrimp meat because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogen that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in vulnerable populations and can cause pregnancy loss. Consumers should not eat the recalled shrimp and should stop using it immediately; do not serve it to others.
The recall covers Bornstein Seafoods branded shrimp sold in 1 lb. and 5 lb. plastic bags with the following lot code(s): A18989, A19006, A19007, A19008, A19009, A19019, A19026, A19030, A19032, A19037, A19039, P11709 and P11710. Item and UPC details correspond to multiple product configurations of frozen shrimp meat (250/350 Ct and 350/500 Ct) on the master case and bag labeling. The products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers and were distributed to distributors and retailers in California, Oregon and Washington, and to British Columbia, and may have been further distributed and sold at retailers nationwide; they have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025.
Consumers should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund; do not consume or donate it. Bornstein Seafoods has ceased distribution while investigating the cause; no illnesses have been reported to date.
