Enoki King Mushroom Farm Recalls Enoki Because of Possible Health Risk

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Enoki King Mushroom Farm of Ventura, Calif., has recalled 5.3‑ounce (150 g) packages of Enoki Mushroom, lot code(s) 4877, because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, pregnant people and others with weakened immune systems. Consumers are advised not to eat the product and to stop using it immediately.

The recalled product is sold in clear plastic packages labeled “Enoki Mushroom” in English and French with lot code(s) 4877 printed on the front and UPC 860011505600 on the back. The packages have been distributed from California and New York through produce distributors and wholesalers and have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers; they have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025. Distribution of the product has been suspended pending further investigation.

Consumers who purchased Enoki mushrooms with lot code(s) 4877 should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them safely; if returning is not possible, seal the product in a plastic bag before discarding. No illnesses have been reported to date.
