Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Direct Source Seafood LLC of Bellevue, Wash., has recalled approximately 83,800 bags of frozen raw shrimp sold under the Market 32 and Waterfront Bistro brands because they may have been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions that could have led to contamination with cesium‑137 (Cs‑137). Consumers are advised not to eat the products and should stop using them immediately due to the potential long‑term cancer risk associated with repeated low‑dose exposure to this radioisotope.
The recall covers Market 32 1‑lb bags (UPC 0 41735 01358 3, best‑by dates April 22–27, 2027) sold at Price Chopper locations in CT, MA, NH, NY, PA and VT with lot code(s) sold after July 11, 2025, and Waterfront Bistro 2‑lb bags (UPC 021130 13224‑9, best‑by dates April 25–26, 2027) sold at Jewel‑Osco, Albertsons, Safeway, Lucky Supermarket and related stores in CO, IA, ID, IL, IN, MT, ND, NV, OR, UT and WY with lot code(s) sold on or after June 30, 2025. The products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers since those dates.
Consumers who purchased the affected shrimp should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or follow retailer instructions for return or refund; consumers seeking a refund or replacement may also contact Direct Source Seafood at [email protected] or by calling 425‑455‑2291, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. PST. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating reports of Cs‑137 in imported shipments; no illnesses have been reported to date. For additional guidance, consumers should consult retailer notices or the FDA website.
