Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — AquaStar (USA) Corp. of Seattle, Wash., has voluntarily recalled a limited quantity of frozen shrimp imported from Indonesia because the products may have been prepared, packed, or held under conditions that exposed them to very low levels of cesium-137 (Cs-137). Consumers should not eat the recalled shrimp and should stop using it immediately; the recall is being issued out of an abundance of caution and no illnesses or positive Cs-137 test results have been reported to date.
The affected products are frozen shrimp sold under AquaStar brand names with lot code(s) listed on pack; consumers should check the lot code(s) printed on the package to determine whether their product is included. The shrimp have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025. Retailers and distributors are removing the identified lots from shelves with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Consumers who purchased the affected shrimp should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or request a replacement where offered. For additional information, questions about lot code(s), or to file a claim, contact AquaStar at 1-800-331-3440 or email [email protected]; consumers should also check retailer notices and the FDA website for updated lists of lot codes and images of the recalled product.
