Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Gutierrez Distributor of Passaic, N.J., has recalled El Servidor Corp. brand ground cinnamon because testing has found elevated levels of lead that pose a risk of increased blood lead levels and related health effects; consumers should stop using the product immediately and not eat it. While short-term exposure to low lead levels may be asymptomatic, prolonged or higher-level exposure can cause developmental harm in children and kidney, blood pressure and neurocognitive effects in adults; no illnesses have been reported to date.
The recalled product is El Servidor Corp. ground cinnamon, sold in 1.5-ounce clear plastic bags, identified by lot code(s): not specified on packaging—consumers should check their packages for any lot code and contact the retailer if uncertain. The product was distributed online and at select U.S. retailers, with sales beginning Jan. 14, 2024; distribution has been halted while the company and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration continue their investigation after New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets detected the contamination.
