Recall Details
Springfield, Mass., May 22, 2025 — Big Y Foods is voluntarily recalling Made‑To‑Order subs, wraps and paninis sold May 20 and May 21, 2025, at select Massachusetts and Connecticut stores because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The company warns that Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and more severe invasive illness in vulnerable people; consumers who purchased these items should not eat them and should stop using them immediately.
The recall covers any Made‑To‑Order Small Sub, Large Sub, 30” Super Sub, Wrap or Panini prepared on May 20 or May 21, 2025, that may have included Smartcuts sliced cucumber implicated in the Bedner Growers Inc. cucumber outbreak investigation (lot code(s) not provided). Affected products have been sold at Big Y retail kitchen service lines at listed stores in Massachusetts and Connecticut (including Springfield, Northampton, Amherst, Pittsfield, Norwood and multiple Connecticut locations) and have been sold since May 20, 2025; these items were prepared to order in‑store and were not prepackaged for self‑service.
Consumers should return the product or show a receipt to the place of purchase for a full refund, or dispose of the product safely if a return is not possible. For refunds, replacements or questions, contact Big Y Foods by email at [email protected] or by phone at 1‑800‑828‑2688, Option 7, Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–4 p.m.; consumers may also contact Smartcuts at 1‑860‑525‑3237 Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. If you are unsure whether your purchase is affected, please contact the store where you bought the item for confirmation.
