Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — First and Last Bakery, LLC of Hartford, Conn., has recalled three jarred pasta sauces because they were produced without an approved scheduled process, creating a risk of Clostridium botulinum toxin formation that can cause potentially fatal botulism. Consumers are advised to stop using the products immediately and not to eat them; anyone who has consumed the products and is experiencing symptoms such as general weakness, dizziness, double vision, difficulty speaking or swallowing, or breathing problems should seek immediate medical attention. The company says no illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall covers 26 fl. oz. jars of First and Last Original Marinara Sauce, Tomato & Basil; First and Last Original Traditional Pasta Sauce, Meat Flavored; and First and Last Original Puttanesca Sauce, Mildly Hot & Spicy, with use‑by dates of 09/26 and corresponding lot code(s) tied to production that began on Sept. 22, 2025 and continued through Oct. 28, 2025. The products have been sold online and at Big Y and at select U.S. retailers in Connecticut and Massachusetts since Sept. 22, 2025.
Consumers should dispose of the recalled jars or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund and should retain purchase receipts if requesting a replacement.
