Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Boss Dairy Farms has voluntarily recalled one retail lot of Charlevoix Cheese Company 8 oz Mild Cheddar Cheese because routine testing has detected Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogen that can cause serious and sometimes fatal illness in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Consumers should not eat the product and should stop using it immediately; healthy individuals may experience fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, while pregnant women risk miscarriage or stillbirth.
The recalled item is Charlevoix Cheese Company 8 oz Mild Cheddar Cheese, lot code(s) 13220025, UPC 850056642057, marked with a best-by date of 10/20/26. The product has been sold in Michigan only, online and at select U.S. retailers, and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.
Consumers who purchased the affected product are urged to dispose of it immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or contact Boss Dairy Farms to request a refund or replacement.
