Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — African Food on Wheels Inc. of Bronx, N.Y., has recalled Oven Dried Fish (Scomberomorus cavalla) after FDA inspection found the product was not properly eviscerated, creating a risk of contamination with Clostridium botulinum, which can cause life‑threatening botulism. Consumers are urged not to eat or use the product and to stop using it immediately even if it looks or smells normal; anyone experiencing symptoms such as weakness, double vision, difficulty speaking or breathing should seek immediate medical attention.
The recall covers 28 corrugated brown boxes of Oven Dried Fish (Scomberomorus cavalla) with lot code(s) not marked on every box; consumers should check packaging carefully. The product has been sold to walk‑in customers at African Food on Wheels Inc., 1376 Randall Avenue, Bronx, NY 10474, and has been sold since Sept. 15, 2025. No illnesses have been reported to date.
