Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Albanese Confectionery Group, Inc. of Merrillville, Ind., has issued a voluntary recall of unpackaged peanut butter cup products sold in bulk bins after they were potentially contaminated with Salmonella. The contamination poses a risk of fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain and can be serious or fatal for young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. Consumers who have these products should stop using them immediately and should not eat them.
The recall affects Rich’s Milk Chocolate Mini Peanut Butter Cups (sold after Nov. 11, 2021) and Rich’s Milk Chocolate Giant Layered Peanut Butter Cups (sold after Jan. 23, 2022); lot code(s) are associated with bulk, unpackaged bins and may not be printed on individual portions. The products have been distributed nationwide and have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers and specialty stores since the dates above. This recall is linked to the J.M. Smucker Co. Jif® Peanut Butter recall; the affected Albanese products were not manufactured onsite at the company’s facility. No illnesses have been reported to date.
Consumers should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or contact the company to request a refund or replacement.
