Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — The James Skinner LLC has recalled a single lot of Publix Maple Walnut Coffee Cake after some units were inadvertently labeled as Publix Raspberry Coffee Cake, creating an undeclared walnut allergen risk; consumers with walnut allergy should not eat the product and should stop using it immediately. The labeling error was discovered when a store employee observed visible walnuts through the clear lid on items labeled as Raspberry Coffee Cake. The company says the affected product may pose a serious or life‑threatening risk to people with walnut allergies.
The recalled item is Publix Maple Walnut Coffee Cake (14 oz.) that was individually labeled as Publix Raspberry Coffee Cake, lot code(s) 5309, SKU 54591, date of manufacture Nov. 5, 2025. The product has been sold online and at select U.S. retailers — specifically distributed to Publix stores — and have been sold since Nov. 5, 2025, in eight states including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The company reports the error was isolated to certain units from one day’s production and has been corrected.
Consumers who purchased the impacted product are advised to return it to their nearest Publix for a refund or replacement and those with walnut allergies should dispose of the product or return it without consuming.
