Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — AquaStar (USA) Corp. of Seattle has recalled multiple frozen shrimp products because they may have been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions that could have allowed contamination with the radioisotope cesium‑137 (Cs‑137), which over time can increase cancer risk. Consumers who purchased the affected products should not eat them and should stop using them immediately.
The recall covers Kroger Raw Colossal EZ Peel Shrimp (net wt. 2 lbs., lot code(s) 10662 5085 10; 10662 5097 11; 10662 5106 11; 10662 5107 10; 10662 5111 11; 10662 5112 10; 10662 5113 10; 10662 5113 11; 10662 5114 10; 10662 5114 11), Kroger Mercado Cooked Medium Peeled Tail‑Off Shrimp (net wt. 2 lbs., lot code(s) 10662 5112 11; 10662 5113 10), and AquaStar Raw Peeled Tail‑on Shrimp Skewers (net wt. 1.25 lbs., lot code(s) 10662 5127 10; 10662 5128 11; 10662 5133 11; 10662 5135 10). The products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers including Kroger banner stores and affiliates in AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MO, MS, MT, NE, NM, NV, OH, OR, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV and WY between June 12, 2025, and Sept. 17, 2025.
Consumers should dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, and may request a refund or replacement from the retailer.
