Clover Hill Dairy Recalls Soft Ricotta/Requeson Cheese Due to Possible Health Risk

Raleigh, N.C., June 5, 2026 — Clover Hill Dairy of Mechanicsville, Md., has voluntarily recalled all Soft Ricotta/Requeson cheese because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogen that can cause severe and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems, and can cause miscarriages in pregnant women. Consumers who have purchased the recalled cheese should stop using it immediately and not eat it.

The recall covers retail clamshell containers sold in ten-, twelve- and fourteen-ounce sizes and bulk two- and five-gallon buckets that may have been repackaged by distributors. Look for Clover Hill Dairy plant number 24-128 on retail labels to identify recalled items; bulk products may appear under distributor brands including, but not limited to, KESSO, QUESOS LA RICURA, IZALCO, DE MI PUEBLO and RIO LINDO. The products have been sold since May 4, 2026, and were distributed online and at select U.S. retailers and through bulk distributors in North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

Consumers should return recalled products to the place of purchase in their original packaging for a full refund or dispose of them safely if returning is not possible.
