Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Primavera Nueva Inc. has recalled select 4-count tamales because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause severe or fatal infections in young children, older adults, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems. Consumers are advised to stop using the affected products immediately and not to eat them; pregnant women and high‑risk individuals should consult a healthcare provider if they have consumed the tamales.
The recall covers multiple flavors of 4‑count tamales produced between Oct. 10, 2024, and Oct. 10, 2025, including Roasted Green Chile & Jack Cheese; Black Bean Bonanza & Jack Cheese; Butternut Squash with Roasted Green Chiles & Cheese; BBQ Chipotle Bean & White Cheddar; Mushroom Spinach & Salsa with Two Cheeses; Roasted Green Chile; Black Bean Bonanza; Butternut Squash with Roasted Green Chiles; Mushroom Spinach & Salsa; and Roasted Pumpkin & White Cheddar. The packages bear lot code(s) and date codes from 10/22/2024 through 10/22/2025 and have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers in California and Nevada since Oct. 10, 2024.
Consumers should dispose of or return the tamales to the place of purchase for a refund or request a replacement by contacting Primavera Nueva at [email protected]; phone inquiries can be directed to 707‑939‑9350, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. PT. No illnesses have been reported to date; the company says it has implemented enhanced cooking‑temperature monitoring and verification since Oct. 11, 2025.
