Global Mix, Inc Recalls Tejocote Products Because of Possible Health Risk

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Global Mix, Inc. of New York has recalled tejocote root products sold under the brands Eva Nutrition, Science of Alpha, Niwali and NWL Nutra because testing shows the products are actually toxic yellow oleander, which can cause serious neurologic, gastrointestinal and cardiovascular effects and may be fatal. Consumers should stop using the products immediately and not eat them; persons who have experienced symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or cardiac changes should seek medical attention right away.

The recalled items are identified as Eva Nutrition Mexican Tejocote Root; Science of Alpha Mexican Tejocote Root; NWL Nutra Mexican Tejocote Root; and Niwali Mexican Tejocote Root, all bearing lot code(s) 181121U, manufactured Aug. 1, 2023, with expiry dates of June 2025 (product codes and expiration dates also appear on the bottom of the packaging). The products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers and through websites including Etsy.com, Amazon.com, eva-nutrition.com, tejocotemexican.com, niwali.com and scienceofalpha.com, and have been sold since Aug. 1, 2023; they were distributed nationwide by website delivery and in-store sales across the United States.

Consumers should stop using the recalled products and either dispose of them safely or return them to the point of purchase for a full refund; consumers seeking a refund or replacement may contact Global Mix, Inc.
