Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Palmer Candy Company has issued a recall of multiple white-coated confectionary products because an ingredient used in its liquid coating may be contaminated with Salmonella, posing a potential health risk; consumers should stop using the affected products immediately and not eat them. No illnesses have been reported to date. Production has been suspended while the company and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration continue their investigation into the source of the contamination.

The recall covers a range of retail items and lot code(s) with specified best-by dates, including Caramel Swirl Pretzels 4oz (lot code(s) with best-by 12/18/24–12/28/24), Cookies & Cream Yummy Chow 14# (12/6/24–1/23/25), Munchy Medley 4oz (12/25/24–12/28/24 and 1/19/25), Peanut Butter Snack Mix 12oz (11/13/24–12/22/24), Vanilla Yogurt Covered Pretzels 10oz (12/18/24, 1/5/25, 1/22/25), Zebra Fudge Cookies 7oz (3/20/25–4/30/25), Patriotic White Fudge Cookies 13.5oz (4/22/2025), and Drizzled Caramel Corn in 5oz and 12oz sizes (1/22/2025); additional affected SKUs and best-by dates are identified by the company. These products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers, including Walmart, Hy‑Vee, Target and Dollar General, and distributed to retailers and distributors in multiple states since the listed best-by dates began.
