Raleigh, N.C., June 18, 2026 — Clover Hill Dairy of Mechanicsville, Maryland has recalled all Clover Hill Dairy brand cheeses because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause severe and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems. Consumers are urged to stop using and not eat any Clover Hill Dairy cheeses immediately and to check household products for the Clover Hill manufacturer permit number “24-128.”

The recall covers a wide range of products and sizes, including Soft Cuajada in Brine (lot code(s) unspecified; 5-gallon and 2-gallon buckets), Soft Cuajada (vacuum sealed; 5-lb bags, 2.5-lb clamshells, 0.90-lb clamshells), Cuajada (30-lb boxes), Ricotta (5-gallon and 2-gallon buckets, 2.5-lb tubs, 1-lb clamshell), soft cuajada crumbs, multiple mild, sharp, flavored, pepper jack and smoked cheese varieties in sizes from snack packs to 40-lb formats. Products have been sold directly from Clover Hill’s retail market, at farmers markets, and through third-party distributors and select relabelers (including KESSO, QUESOS LA RICURA, IZALCO, DE MI PUEBLO, RIO LINDO) online and at select U.S. retailers in North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington, D.C., and have been sold since at least earlier in 2026.

Consumers should not eat, sell, or serve the recalled cheese and should return products to the point of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them following local guidance; if unsure, retain packaging and contact the seller for instructions.
