Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Peterson Company of Auburn, Wash., has voluntarily recalled Twin Sisters Creamery brand cheeses, specifically item #28855 Whatcom Blue and item #29608 Farmhouse, because they may be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC), including E. coli O103, which can cause severe gastrointestinal illness and life‑threatening complications in young children, the elderly and immunocompromised persons. Consumers who have these products should not eat them and should stop using them immediately.
The recalled products are approximately 5–6 oz half‑moon shaped pieces wrapped in clear plastic and have the following manufacturer codes (lot code(s)) printed or on a small tan‑to‑orange sticker: Whatcom Blue (item #28855) MFG Codes 793511, 781511, 775511, 761511; Farmhouse (item #29608) MFG Codes 765511, 752511, 738511, 726511. According to the company, these cheeses have been distributed to retailers, caterers, distributors and restaurants in Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Washington and have been sold since Aug. 14, 2025, through Oct. 24, 2025; they were sold online and at select U.S. retailers.
Consumers who purchased the affected cheeses should dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund and should clean and sanitize any surfaces the product contacted; those concerned about illness should contact a medical professional.
