Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Eagle Produce LLC has recalled 224 cases of whole cantaloupe after routine state testing detected Salmonella, a bacterium that can cause serious or fatal infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. Consumers are advised: do not eat the affected cantaloupes and stop using them immediately to avoid risk of fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and more severe complications if the infection spreads.
The recall covers Kandy brand whole cantaloupe, UPC number code 4050, with lot code(s) 846468. The melons have been sold since Aug. 13, 2025, online and at select U.S. retailers and were distributed Aug. 13–17, 2025, in Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Texas and Virginia. The cantaloupes are identified by a red-and-white sticker marked “KANDY” with the UPC number 4050; no other products or lot codes are included in this action.
Consumers who purchased the recalled cantaloupes should dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.
