Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Eagle Produce LLC has recalled 6,456 cases of whole cantaloupes sold under the Kandy brand because FDA testing in a distribution center has identified a potential Salmonella contamination risk. Salmonella can cause fever, nausea, vomiting, bloody diarrhea and other serious infections, particularly in young children, the elderly and immunocompromised people. Consumers who purchased these cantaloupes should not eat them and should stop using them immediately.
The recalled items are Kandy whole cantaloupes with UPC code 4050 and lot code(s) 797901, 797900 and 804918. The products have been sold since Sept. 5, 2025, online and at select U.S. retailers and were distributed Sept. 5–16, 2025, to retail supermarkets in California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C. No other brands, products or lot code(s) are affected.
Consumers should dispose of or return the recalled cantaloupes to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement, and may request a refund directly from Eagle Produce LLC by emailing [email protected] or calling 1-800-627-8674, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. PST. The company is cooperating with the FDA; consumers concerned about illness after consuming the product should contact a health care provider.
