PennRose Farms Issues Recall of Whole Cucumbers Because Of Possible Health Risk

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — PennRose Farms, LLC has recalled 5-pound mesh bags of whole cucumbers because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, a pathogen that can cause severe, sometimes fatal, infections in vulnerable populations. Consumers are urged not to eat the cucumbers and to stop using them immediately; restaurants and retailers should stop distribution and destroy affected product. Anyone who has consumed the cucumbers and feels ill should seek medical attention.

The recall covers 5-pound mesh bags bearing Restaurant Depot and PennRose Farms logos with UPC 841214101714 and lot code(s) 48-122, 48-123, 48-124, 48-125. The cucumbers were repacked by PennRose Farms after notification from supplier Fresh Start Produce Sales, Inc., and originate from a Bedner Growers, Inc. recall. Approximately 1,152 cases (9,216 individual units) packaged between May 2 and May 5 have been shipped to Restaurant Depot distribution centers in New Jersey, Georgia, Florida, Illinois and Ohio; the products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers and distribution centers since May 2, 2025.

Consumers should dispose of or return recalled cucumbers to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement, or follow retailer instructions for returns; restaurants, retailers and distributors should destroy affected stock and notify customers if product was served.
