Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Fresh Start Produce Sales Inc. has recalled whole cucumbers because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, a pathogen that can cause fever, diarrhea, vomiting and, in severe cases, bloodstream infections and other serious illnesses. Consumers who have these cucumbers should not eat them and should stop using them immediately to avoid potential illness.
The recalled items are whole, dark green cucumbers about 1.5–2.0 inches in diameter and 5–9 inches long; mini and English cucumbers are not included. The recall covers product with lot code(s) shipped in bulk cartons from May 17, 2024, through May 21, 2024. The cucumbers have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers and were distributed to retail distribution centers, wholesalers and food service distributors in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia since May 17, 2024.
Consumers should destroy and discard the recalled cucumbers or return them to the place of purchase for a refund, and should check with their retailer to determine whether the recalled product was sold there.
