9. Chili Pepper
We are chemically irritated by capsaicin, the active ingredient in chili peppers that determines how hot they are. Chili peppers won't necessarily burst when heated in the microwave. Instead, capsaicin will be released, which can make your eyes and throat feel like they're burning.
