Meat's carcinogenic properties can easily increase when it is processed with nitrates. Research found that every 3.5 ounce serving of processed red meat consumed per day, the risk of colorectal cancer increased by 12 percent. Bacon, as a processed red meat, also contains a not-negligible amount of saturated fat and salt, and some brands contain quite a bit of sugar, all of which are bad for your blood pressure.
