1. Make sure the oven is hot
You want to have a preheated oven for your pizza. If it's a standard oven, keep it up to 550 degrees F; if it's a wood-burning one, start the fire 45 minutes to an hour ahead. This way, the ingredients won't spoil due to the constant warming of the oven. Similarly, you also need a warm cooking surface. Anything like a pizza stone, oven rack, or sheet pan will do as long as you get it adequately heated ahead.
