9. Causing Deforestation in the Amazon
This claim came from a Greenpeace report. In 2006, McDonald's was one of several corporations accused of contributing to increased deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. This happens when the company wanted to ensure that its Chicken McNuggets and other meat remain cheap and abundant for European consumers and its massive need for soy-based animal feeds was putting the South American jungle in harm's way.
